To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:

WHEREAS: Empowering homecare patients to appeal a sudden loss or reduction in services will help ensure that homecare recipients receive the level of care they deserve.

WHEREAS: Bill 92 shortens the time period, from 60 days to 30 days, during which an agency is required to respond to complaints respecting decisions about the particular community services a person is entitled to receive.

WHEREAS: Bill 92 requires providers to inform homecare recipients about the process for appealing homecare re-assessments to the Health Services Appeal and Review Board.

WHEREAS: Bill 92 stays any agency decision resulting in a termination or reduction of homecare services if the recipient appeals the decision to the Health Service Appeal and Review Board.

THEREFORE, we the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows – to vote in favour of The Empowering Homecare Patients Act.
