WINDSOR –NDP MPP Lisa Gretzky (Windsor West) released the following statement in memory of Gary Parent, former President of the Windsor and District Labour Council, and dedicated member of the Windsor community:
“I want to express my heartfelt grief at Gary’s passing. A true giant in the Windsor community, Gary’s belief that public services should be strengthened for the betterment of everyone never wavered, and his contributions to our community are why we have the Gary Parent Labour Activist awards every year.
His belief in me is a driving factor of why I am here today as the MPP for Windsor West. He was tough, kind and honest. He has always been on the side of not just working people but everyone in Windsor. I was privileged to have had the opportunity to honour Gary in the legislature this week. I want to extend my condolences to his family, and the entire community. We will all greatly miss him.”
