WINDSOR – MPP Lisa Gretzky (Windsor West) released the following statement on Doug Ford excluding Windsor from announcement to provide financial help to businesses impacted by the convoy protests:
“When the Ambassador Bridge was blocked by convoy protestors, small businesses and workers paid the price. Auto plants were shut down and workers were sent home, local businesses closed, and thousands of people lost the income they needed to pay their mortgages or grocery bill – all while Ford dragged his feet to act.
By excluding Windsor from today’s announcement, Ford is leaving Windsor families, workers and small business owners to fend for themselves. Ford refused to use his powers to help end the blockades, instead he left the protests in Windsor and Ottawa to fester and grow. Now he’s refusing to help people in Windsor.
Last month, I joined Andrea Horwath here in Windsor to call on Ford to provide financial support for small businesses and workers affected by the blockade. Ford can’t just abandon Windsor families just because the blockade is over, he needs to help workers and small businesses recover today.”
Windsor workers and businesses need blockade recovery support too: Gretzky
